Drago Dumbovic recently completed his first season at the helm of the Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer program. The Cardinals were 5-10-1 in 2003.

He opened Drago’s SportsPlex and Drago’s Soccer Academy of Excellence located in Midland, Mich. in 2001. Prior to owning his businesses, Drago was the head coach for the Detroit Rockers from 1999-2001, and served as an assistant coach for the Rockers during the 1998-1999 campaign.

“We are very excited to be able to find someone as qualified as Drago to take over of our soccer program,” stated Zimmermann. “He has a proven track record as a player and a coach. He is a welcome addition to the Cardinal family.”
Drago played professional soccer between 1983 and 1999 for numerous teams including; the Detroit Rockers, Sacramento Knights, Detroit Neon, Hershey Impact, Washington Diplomats (outdoor), Atlanta Attack, Baltimore Blast, Maryland Bays (outdoor), Chicago Sting, Minnesota Strikers, and Pittsburgh Spirit. He was named a six-time all-star and set several new league records during this time.

Drago also won an NPSL Championship with the Detroit Rockers in 1992. He started playing soccer professionally at the age of 16 in Yugoslavia, where he played internationally in UEFA and FIFA competitions. Drago was born in Croatia.
