The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team lost
its fourth straight match, dropping a 3-0 decision to visiting
Gannon University on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals played a strong game defensively, trailing
1-0 at halftime. SVSU made two critical defensive errors

to hold the Knights to seven shots but managed only five
of their own. The game was also very physical as the teams
were tagged for a combined 34 fouls.
"This was a very physical game on both sides," said Cardinal

in the first half and had to go deep into our bench. There
was not much more we could do."
Saginaw Valley drops to 3-6 overall, and 0-3 in GLIAC. Gannon

The Crusaders broke the tie with four minutes remaining
for a 2-1 halftime advantage. Madonna would add three more
unanswered goals in the final stanza for the 4-1 victory.
"We played very well considering the circumstances," stated
Cardinal head coach Reza Saffarian, referring to the sloppy
conditions of the playing field and the injuries to some
of the Cardinals' key starters. "Offensively we played hard
but failed to take advantage of good opportunities."

mistakes."
Mercyhurst out shot Saginaw Valley 26-6, and had 13 corner
kicks to the Cardinals' two.
The lone bright spot for the Cardinals was the play of Jacobs
who tallied 15 saves, many at point blank range. "Todd played
