    Jamie Matthews has spent the last six years as head men’s basketball coach at Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana. Matthews replaced Dick Hunsaker, who left to become the Director of Basketball Operations at the University of Utah. During his tenure the team has compiled an overall record of 109-52 (.677).
    Matthews accomplished a number of milestones at Manchester College including reaching 100 wins faster than any coach in school history. In addition, Matthews set a school record with six consecutive winning seasons from the 1997-98 season through the 2003-04 season.
Last season, Matthews led the Spartans to an 18-9 record and a runner-up finish for the conference title.     Matthews best season was in 1998-99 when he led the Spartans to a 24-5 record in his first season. Among his accomplishments included a NCAA Division III “Sweet Sixteen” appearance and a conference championship (Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference). In addition, Matthews was named Regional Coach of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches in 1998-99. Matthews’ teams have either won or finished second in the conference in five of his six seasons.
    Matthews was an assistant coach at Manchester from 1995-98 prior to his head coaching position and also served as an assistant coach at Central Michigan University from 1993-95.
    Matthews also played collegiate basketball for four years with three different schools. His freshman season was spent at the University of Alaska-Anchorage where the team compiled a 22-8 record and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament. Matthews played his sophomore season at Vincennes University where the team went 29-3. He was honored with all-region and academic all-american accolades at Vincennes. His final two seasons were successful ones at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. As a junior, BSU was involved in the Pre-Season and Post-Season NIT Tournaments and posted a 24-9 mark.
    As a senior, Matthews and the Cardinals went 26-8 and won both the Mid-American Conference Regular Season and Tournament titles. He was named the team’s Most Valuable Player that season and scored a career-high 31 points in the MAC Tournament Finals. The Cardinals would eventually lose to Kansas in the NCAA Tournament.
    Matthews has received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Ball State University and his Masters of Arts degree in Athletic Administration from Central Michigan University.
Matthews is a native of New Washington, Indiana and attended New Washington High School from 1985-89. Jamie and his wife, Kendra and three children.
