HERREMANS NAMED AFCA ALL-AMERICAN

WACO, Texas – Senior offensive tackle Todd Herremans (Ravenna, Mich.) has been named to the 2004 American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches’ All-America Team. Herremans is one of five GLIAC players named to the All-America Team and is only the sixth player in SVSU history to be named to this prestigious team.      Herremans becomes the first recipient of All-American honors since Brian Dolph in 2000. Herremans had one of the finest careers in SVSU history at his position. He started in 40 career games in four years and was a major part of a team that went 39-9 over his four years at SVSU. He was named First Team All-GLIAC for the second time in 2004 and was also named Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year in the GLIAC. In addition, Herremans was named First Team All-Northwest Region by both D2Football.com and Daktronics.
“We are real excited for Todd to be able to represent SVSU as an All-American,” said head coach Randy Awrey. “It is a well deserved honor for a fine athlete and more importantly a great person.”
Herremans has been selected to participate in the Cactus Bowl on January 7, 2005 in Kingsville, Texas for Division II seniors who will showcase their talents in the all-star game. In addition, he will participate in the Las Vegas All-American Classic on January 28, 2005 featuring Division I-AA and Division II talent from around the nation.
