                                             Cardinals Drill Oilers

FINDLAY, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University Cardinals Football came out on top of GLIAC foe Findlay in a battle of unbeatens 69-7 on Saturday (October 12). It was the fourth straight week that SVSU has managed to score at least 50 points.
     Saginaw Valley mounted an offensive assualt behind the trio of Matt LaFleur (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) who went 12-of-21 for 220 yards passing and five total touchdowns ( 4 passing, 1 rushing). Mark Radlinski (Caledonia, Mich./Catholic Central HS) chipped in, connecting on 2-of-3 passing attempts for 45 yards and a touchdown, to go along with one on the ground. Brad Sundholm (Hardwood, Mich./North Dickinson HS) came in during the third quarter to finish off the game with two passes, both going for touchdowns and also contributed with a rushing score of his own.
    Senior wide receiver Travis McAlpine (Pontiac, Mich./Notre Dame Prep) had another big day for the Cardinals, finishing with three scores, while fellow wideout Erick Woods (St. Louis, Mo.) grabbed his first two career touchdown receptions.. 
     SVSU's defense played outstanding as senior Jason Battershell (Rochester Hills, Mich.) recorded eleven tackles and a fumble recovery, while senior safety Pat Cavanaugh (Troy, Mich./Bishop Foley HS) tallied ten tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception. SVSU's defense finished with five takeaways.
     Saginaw Valley moves to 6-0 (5-0 GLIAC) while Findlay falls to 5-1 (4-1 GLIAC). The Cardinals will host top-ranked Grand Valley State University Saturday (October 19) at noon in Wickes Stadium.
