homer in game one on Saturday as SVSU earned a split at the University
of Findlay in the first two games of a four-game set. Crawford
registered a two-run first inning blast and then hit a three-run,
game-tying homer in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game
at 7-7. With the Cards trailing 7-4 going into the final inning
of game one, they responded with five runs, including the game-winning
RBI double off the bat of junior Chris Norton (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic

went 2-for-4 with his two homers and a career-high five RBI's.
Also contributing offensively were Ryo Tahara (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview)
who went 3-for-5 in the leadoff spot and senior Adam Piggott (Sarnia,
Ont.) who was 2-for-4. Sophomore Jim Kelly (Lake Orion, Mich.)
improved to 2-0 throwing four relief innings. Kelly allowed two
earned runs and walked and struck out one. Junior Jesse Thompson
(Muskegon, Mich./Reeths-Puffer) started and threw three innings
before being chased.
The nightcap went the Oilers way to the
tune of 5-0. Richard Lindquist once again received poor run-support
and threw well. He struck out six and allowed four earned runs
in six innings to fall to 3-3. Justin Hanning (Lake Orion, Mich.)
went 3-for-3 in game two as SVSU registered six hits. Piggott
was 1-for-3 with SVSU's only extra base hit which was a double.
