CARDS DROP A 16-4 DECISION AT DETROIT
DETROIT, Mich. – The Cardinals jumped ahead
3-2 at the end of their half of the second inning, but from there
it was all Titans in a 16-4 win over SVSU on Tuesday from Campbell
Complex. The Cardinals scored three times in the top of the second
as senior Mike Crawford (Lake Orion, Mich.)
drove in the first run on an RBI doubled down the left field line
scoring senior Adam Piggott (Sarnia, Ont.).
The Cards scored their second run on a fielding error off the
bat of Joe Funsch (Clio, Mich.) which
plated Jon Straus (Beal City, Mich.).
The third run came around on a sacrifice fly by Justin
Hanning (Lake Orion, Mich.) scoring Crawford.
The Titans regained the lead 6-3 with
a four-spot in the bottom of the second. They would also add a
four-run inning in the sixth and eighth. Freshman Kori
Garman (Goodrich, Mich.) took the loss and falls
to 0-3. He threw five innings and gave up six earned runs and
six walks with five strikeouts. Cory McDonald
(Hillman, Mich.) went two innings in relief and allowed
one earned run with two strikeouts. Crawford went 3-for-4 with
a homer in the sixth inning, his first of the season. Crawford
batted in two and scored twice as well. Piggott and Ryo
Tahara (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview) also collected
hits for a total of five hits for SVSU.
SVSU (12-16, 5-7 GLIAC) will host Northwood
in a twinbill tomorrow at 1:00 pm from the SVSU Baseball Field
in a critical GLIAC matchup.
