Cardinals Down St. Anselm 5-3
BRADENTON, Fla. – For
the second time in as many days the Saginaw Valley State University
baseball team defeated St. Anselm. On Sunday (Mar. 2) the Cardinals
downed the Hawks 5-3 after posting a 20-5 win Saturday (Mar. 1).
Senior Mark Debo (Bay City,
Mich./John Glenn HS) pitched six scoreless innings to earn
the win (1-0). He scattered three hits and fanned six before giving
way to Joe Kramer (Linden, Mich.). Kramer
gave up three runs in the seventh inning and loaded the bases
before getting out of the jam.
Kyle Weessies (Climax,
Mich./Scott HS) led the Cardinals' offense, going 3-for-3.
SVSU moves to 2-0 on the season while St. Anselm falls to 0-2.
The Cardinals return to action on Monday (Mar. 3) when they face
Indiana (Pa.) in a double-header beginning at 10:00a.m. at Academy
Park.
