Corby Earns Second Straight GLIAC Pitcher of the Week

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University senior
Scott Corby (London, Ontario) was named the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week. Corby earned GLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors for his stellar performance last weekend against Wayne State (Apr. 16). He pitched a three-hitter in the Cardinals 6-0 victory over the Warriors.
Corby tossed seven scoreless innings for his fifth career complete-game shutout, matching a career-high with eleven strikeouts and no walks. With back-to-back complete-game shutouts, Corby has thrown 18 straight scoreless innings and improved to a perfect 6-0. He carries a 1.88 ERA with a staff-best 39 strikeouts.
Earlier this season, Corby became SVSU’s all-time wins and strikeout leader. He now stands at 241 career strikeouts and 30 career victories.
SVSU is 21-10 (11-5 GLIAC) on the year. The Cardinals return to action Wednesday (Apr. 23), when they travel to Northwood for a doubleheader, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
