Corby Earns Second Straight GLIAC
Pitcher of the Week
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. –
Saginaw Valley State University senior
Scott Corby (London, Ontario) was named
the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Corby earned GLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors for his stellar
performance last weekend against Wayne State (Apr. 16). He pitched
a three-hitter in the Cardinals 6-0 victory over the Warriors.
Corby tossed seven scoreless innings for
his fifth career complete-game shutout, matching a career-high
with eleven strikeouts and no walks. With back-to-back complete-game
shutouts, Corby has thrown 18 straight scoreless innings and improved
to a perfect 6-0. He carries a 1.88 ERA with a staff-best 39 strikeouts.
Earlier this season, Corby became SVSU’s all-time wins and
strikeout leader. He now stands at 241 career strikeouts and 30
career victories.
SVSU is 21-10 (11-5 GLIAC) on the year.
The Cardinals return to action Wednesday (Apr. 23), when they
travel to Northwood for a doubleheader, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
