Cardinals Sweep Two Games From
IUP
BRADENTON, Fla. – The
Saginaw Valley State University baseball team ran its record to
5-0 on the year with a 9-5 victory over Assumption College on
Tuesday (Mar. 4). Adam Piggott (Sarnia, Ontario/Sarnia
Collegiate HS) belted the team’s first homerun of the
season in the win.
In addition to Piggott’s blast, the Cardinals’
received strong offensive showings from Sean Odamura
(Mississauga, Ontario/Lorne Park HS) and T.J.
Lehnertz (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central HS).
Odamura stole three bases and scored three runs in the contest,
while Lehnertz recorded two hits.
Freshman Steve Liebrecht (Saginaw,
Mich./Heritage HS) pitched five and two-thirds innings to
earn the win (1-0). He allowed just four hits and three walks.
Joe Kramer (Linden, Mich.) came on in
the sixth inning to earn the save.
The win moves SVSU to 5-0 on the season. The Cardinals
face Indiana (Pa.) Wednesday at 10:00a.m.
