Cards Outslug Scots 12-9

Alma, Mich.- The Cardinals (16-5) escaped a five-run ninth-inning rally from host Alma College to hold-on and take the win 12-9 on Thursday. The Cards, leading 12-4 going into the final frame, won their fourth in a row heading into a four-game set with Findlay this weekend.
      Junior Mark Debo (Bay City/John Glenn) made his first start as a Cardinal, going 6.1 innings without giving-up an earned run. Debo has now pitched 9.0 innings without giving-up an earned run in 2002. Junior T. J. Lehnertz (Grand Rapids/Catholic Central) hit his first and second homeruns of the season and tallied three RBI in the process. Senior Ryan Wilkinson (Dearborn) and sophomore Kurt Neveau (Bay City/Central) each had two doubles for SVSU.
      The Cardinals, ranked #17 in the nation, will put their four-game win streak on the line when they host GLIAC-rival Findlay on Saturday and Sunday.
