MICHELLE COURIER: RECENT WORKS

An exhibition of recent paintings by popular Bay City Artist Michelle Courier opens Monday, August 25, as the SVSU University Art Gallery begins its Fall 2008 exhibition season. The display will feature 25 canvases from the acclaimed artist's dazzling series of landscape paintings. While the landscapes at first appear realistically portrayed, the images shimmer with light and color, creating an idealized, almost dreamlike effect.

PAINTINGS BY ROBERT McCANN

Robert McCann is an Assistant Professor of Art at Michigan State University. The ordinary mixes with the extra-ordinary in this new exhibition of paintings by Michigan State University art professor Robert McCann. The display features mural-sized oil paintings as well as preliminary figure drawings inhabited by figures both everyday and bizarre, placed in common American settings that belie the surreal subject matter. "VISUAL ENGINEERING": PAINTINGS & DRAWINGS

In this group of works from or since Mosher's Fall 2007 Sabbatical, oddly-chromatic fashion models and exotic dancers bump against live or dead residents of Iraq or Afghanistan, archaic power plant and substation transformers, aged Detroit cars, while the entire ensemble is laced together with improbably electronic circuitry schematics. STUDENT BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS EXHIBITION
Artist Reception: Thursday, December 4, 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm
This exhibit will feature works of SVSU graduating art majors; Samantha Eurich, Caroline Heller, and Sara Lowthian. This exhibit will feature painting, drawing and sculptures works of these students. MATT ZIVICH: RECENT WORKS FROM THE "AMERICANA" SERIES

MIXED MEDIA WORKS by RANDAL CRAWFORD

Randal Crawford is a Professor of Art at Delta College, where he teaches design and digital imaging. He is currently working with sculptures and fibers. Mr. Crawford recently had an exhibit at the Space Gallery in Midland. Mr. Crawford has a M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art, and a B.F.A. from Philadelphia College of Art. Jessica Gondek is from Montgomery Illinois, a western community outside of Chicago. Ms. Gondek has a M.F.A. degree in painting from Washington University in St. Louis Missouri, and a B.F.A.. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Ms. Gondek is currently an Associate Professor of Fine Art at Loyola University Chicago, and teaches painting and drawing. "INspire & mINnetrista": Selections from the INprint Group
INprint is a regional association of 25 fine art printmakers based in Central Indiana, formed in 1997 at the Indianapolis Art Center. The purpose of INprint is to share, create, educate, and promote the media of printmaking. Exhibiting members have degrees in fine art or significant studies, regularly exhibit in juried and one-person or group shows, and/or teach art in colleges, schools, art centers, or privately. Their artwork consists or original hand-pulled prints including etching, silkscreen, monoprint, monotype, collagraph, woodcut, linocut, lithography, and new non-toxic intaglio and relief.
