Composite Landscapes

COMPOSITE LANDSCAPES

Much like the Old Masters, intermediate painting students completed at least three preliminary studies at various locations on campus as a preparation for their composite landscape paintings.

Parts of the preliminary studies were then used to complete the final compositions as shown here.  The main emphasis was on using the specific techniques of graduated overlapping planes and perspective to create a convincing illusion of depth.
