Why SVSU?

Close to home. Low tuition. While these are common reasons students come to SVSU, it is not why they're here. More than likely, they have found a passion for learning. It could begin from having a class, with less than 25 other students, taught by one of our best-in-their-field faculty. Or assisting in research. Or complimenting in-classroom learning with practical experiences in a student organization. What the SVSU experiences provides are endless opportunities.

Degree Programs

At SVSU, you can choose from over 70 programs of study that lead to one of ten baccalaureate degrees, or one of 15 graduate programs (14 master's degree and one doctoral program).

Accreditation

Saginaw Valley State University was accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association as a baccalaureate degree-granting institution in 1970. In 1980 the HLC/NCA continued this accreditation and granted accreditation at the master’s degree level. Both accreditations have been retained continuously since the original accreditation.

In addition, ten programs have been awarded specialized accreditations: athletic training, business programs, chemistry, education, electrical engineering, mechancial engineering, medical laboratory science, music, nursing, occupational therapy, and social work.
