Education Specialist (EdS)


The Education Specialist (EdS) degree provides graduate studies beyond the master's degree and is a leadership program preparing individuals to assume professional roles in educational administration and supervision. Graduates will be qualified to work in a variety of educational settings, including schools, community colleges, and universities.

Individuals interested in obtaining an Education Specialist degree will specialize in one of the following: athletic directorship, central office and superintendency, curriculum directorship, early childhood directorship, principalship, special education directorship, or technology specialist.

Program Requirements


The College of Education is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and has been cited by NCATE for exemplary practice. SVSU is approved as a teacher preparation institution by action of the State Board of Education.
