The Buzz

Ric Roberts, SVSU associate professor of theatre and show director

"In my 10 years on the faculty at SVSU, I have never seen students and faculty work harder on a production."

Jonah Conner, a freshman theater major from Warren (per

‌"I knew going to a smaller school would allow a lot more personal instruction and hands-on experience.  But this is so much more. Instead of playing the leads as I did in high school, I’m convincing audiences that I’m an entirely different person after a five-second transformation on the sidelines."

Kevin Simons, SVSU assistant professor of music and show music director

"Usually, music students sing in a darkened concert hall that’s kind of stuffy. This has been a revelation for them. They’re having to tap dance. They’re having to sing, and sing for an audience that is really going to be respond, and be funny, and act. This has been a great experience for our music students to really learn what the theatrical world is like."
